AI teaching is likely to become the norm in our schools but is likely to give an inferior education
https://dailysceptic.org/2026/05/07/dont-be-duped-by-ai-ed-tech-this-is-what-really-happens-when-schools-give-screens-to-children/

Modern woke “schools” already give an inferior “education”. It’s difficult to imagine how it could get any worse.
210
I worked on a 3 month project with a fellow who had made the observation that each of his children exhibited the personality flaws of the various teachers they had been exposed to through the years.
My wife was heavily involved in the schools our boys attended. She was careful in selecting their teacher for the coming year and was able to get her wish through involvement in P&C. During primary school of the boys, she regularly attended parent reading sessions in the classroom. There are now middle aged men and women who still recognise her and remember how she helped them to read.
Can you still remember the names of your primary school teachers? My point is that they play an important role in child development.
I am quite impressed with what my grandkids get from Youtube through their own navigation.
AI will inevitably find a role in teaching. It already has based on what I have observed. Generally it is positive. I find MS Copilot smarmy. And it lies with gay abandon although it never admits to lying; rather not going deep enough to find original and correct data. I have not taught it much yet but my version is getting less smarmy and more objective.

Her name was Yelena Vasilievna. 75 years on clearly see her face. Never heard the surname…
You might know that there younger people must use patronymic when address their elders.

Molly Walsh, and I hope I didn’t absorb any more than the three Rs from her. She was vicious to the two worst students. And I still remember their names, I felt for them.

Mr Thomas my class teacher and Mr Thompson the head teacher of my little Army primary school in Egypt when I was 10 years old. I can see the face of our head teacher at the Army All-Age school but blank on her name, after we moved from Fayid to Suez. Good people.

in returning to the admission that RCP8.5 is basically a load of nonsense it seems unlikely that the news will be accepted
https://www.conservativewoman.co.uk/the-climate-scaremongers-net-zero-a-house-of-cards-built-on-the-wobbly-assumptions-of-the-met-office/
Believers have had years of frightening scenarios from the Met office, IPCC, the BBC and many other bodies and that belief in a catastrophe of our own making seems very firmly embedded. I wonder if it will make any difference to the very many who follow the green version of the climate that they officially believe in something very unlikely. I doubt this news will get much traction in the MSM and will be ignored by politicians.
141
I pointed to a video yesterday where a pollster had observed that 18 to 35yo females were very progressive. They were firmly planted as green voters because they viewed the others as aligned with big business and destroying the planet.
A 25yo with an arts degree and working in a bank or government does not make enough money to buy a home. Does not want kids because she has no home and does not want to add to the population problem. Has been taught not to depend on a male. And many males of that age are more disillusioned. Fortunately for Australia, the males are more likely to vote One Nation.
So the UN (and UK, EU and Australia) sales pitch on Climate Change™ has found an important audience. The breeding stock.
Educating women has long been recognised as the best means of limiting population. It is why Islamic populations will outnumber Christian populations within the next decade – keep the women uneducated so they are good breeders.

Labour and Keir Starmer get a hammering in the UK local elections. They have “ruled” Wales for a century, but no longer and have lost many seats and councils in England. In the following video Dr John Campbell talks about hantavirus. https://youtu.be/lUGCswwHmls
I hope Australian “authorities” don’t panic and repeat the mistakes of some of the world’s most draconian lockups and compulsory vaccinations with untested experimental substances as happened in Australia during covid.

Now the msm nonsense has shifted from rat-borne to the Andes strain, which I knew early last week as the cause.
WHO Inexplicably, Immediately Releases All Passengers on Hantavirus Cruise Ship Without Quarantine
You have an (alleged) outbreak on a cruise ship currently at sea of a highly lethal virus with a reported kill rate of 40%, as opposed to less than one percent for COVID
· Said virus has an incubation period of 7-39 days, meaning an infected individual could walk around symptom-free for the better part of a month and a half without exhibiting any outward signs
· Said outbreak occurred on a structure that can easily logistically be kept out at sea until the incubation period expires. (In fact, the term “quarantine” literally means, in its etymological origins, “period a ship suspected of carrying contagious disease is kept in isolation.”)

Farrer by-election is Today.
40
It will be interesting to see the result, I believe it will once again be based on preferences distribution, and a mix of town and country voter’s perceptions.
One Nation is of course the poll based favourite however the preferences include both Liberal Party and National Party candidates in a seat that has traditionally been National or Liberal represented. And a Teal Independent, noting at the recent VIC State by election the Teal based on the 2PP (two party preferred) calculation based on voting trend on the day polled 36% to Liberal 63%, and like published opinion polls is only a guide.
40
This is the 7News report on Farrer last night.

It should send a clear message to their ABC about their bias for the radical left. They will be frozen out of political coverage if they do not start giving balanced reporting. Over the next two years, they need to be convincing One Nation that they are worthy of funding or had better get their subscription model going.

Like Australia (domestically), Thailand is energy poor and is reliant on imported energy and electricity prices have been increasing for various reasons
Here is a video about a British expatriate who lives in Thailand and has installed a solar system on his property to lower his electricity prices.
For those interested in solar systems they might wish to compare this Thai solar system with the experience in Australia.
Note that domestic electricity in Thailand is still cheaper than Australia, 3.95 baht per kWh or AUD 17c per kWh.
Video: https://youtu.be/Y_VAu0IKBkY
I got NoteGPT AI to generate a summary:
30
Note that Thailand is no longer a Third World country but an upper middle income one and at its current rate of progress, and Australia’s rate of regress, I think it will easily surpass Australia in a few years.
140
Does not add up. Expensive way to watch TV in a Black-out. Buy a generator. Much cheaper!
Using the claim ‘Electricity bills dropped from about **5,000 Baht to 2,000 Baht** after solar installation‘
I calculate and am happy to be corrected.
420,000 Baht to install divided by average Quarterly? (‘May to August 2026 tariff period‘) usage cost 5000 Baht per Quarter = Cost of supply for 84 quarters or 21 years.
At which time you will have paid for at least 2 inverters, new battery bank, have lost performance from your panels and still had to pay 84 Quarters X 2000 Baht = 168,000 Baht to charge your batteries and cope with excess loads.
Best case is that in 21 years you will be buying a new system if the Gods haven’t destroyed it, lightning, rust, water damage with all the holes in the roof, insect or rodent damage, battery explodes, house burns down due to fires caused by huge DC currents etc
Best case cost per quarter would be (420,000 + 168,000) / 84 = a cost of 7000 Baht / Qtr to have Solar and battery. I do not see any saving only cost and risk?
Could be just an Ayn Rand Utopia, nice idea just does not add up and a lot of work when you could just rely on a cable to a pole and a system elsewhere worrying about risk.
I have been stand alone for over thirty years. No bloody pole near me and a long way to the gate.
90
Oops!! Apologies though same sentiment applies – buy a generator!
Should have watched the Video – Monthly not Quarterly Billing.
420000 / 5000 = 84 Months supply 84 / 12 = 7 years
Cost of power in that period (2000 Baht / month) remains at 168,000 + (7 / 21 * 420000) = 308000 (estimated cost for 7 years assuming power cost increases as savings cancel inflation on capital costs)
Actual cost per Month would be 308,000 / 84 = 3666 Baht / Month a saving of 1333 Baht /month or 16,000 per year.
Not worth the risk in my opinion, particularly when the video appears to sart with a flash.
The other interesting comment in the video is that the power supply has become more expensive and prone to failure. I wonder why? Maybe ‘Black Out Bowen’ can explain why?
Happy to be corrected!

War with Iran
The war with Iran may be terminated but Iran is showing signs of increasing desperation.
Four Iranian ships tried to run the blockade and have been disabled by the USN. In response Iran attacked a tanker but it turned out to be a Chinese vessel, suggesting great confusion by the IRGC.
Iran has also tried to attack 3 USN destroyers which were transiting the Strait of Hormuz with missiles and drones but the attacks failed. In response the US destroyed missile launch sites, control centres and surveillance sites and an unknown number of small fast boats.
110
Trump’s being played, west msm lying, USA hasn’t won (repeatedly), Iran’s military and bunkers haven’t been destroyed, war will go on for months minimum, I said at the start.
“Belying the Trump administration’s claims that a US blockade on Iran’s use of the Strait of Hormuz has the country on the ropes and its oil infrastructure in near-term peril, a confidential CIA analysis says Iran can persevere another three or four months, if not longer. In a second stark contradiction of White House narratives, US intelligence assesses that the bulk of Iran’s pre-war missile inventory is still intact. The substance of the CIA analysis was first reported by the Washington Post, which attributed the insights to three current officials and one former one who’ve seen it.”
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/cia-leak-iran-can-survive-blockade-another-3-4-months-maybe-longer
😉
13
USN has demonstrated that any country can get their commercial ships through the Strait with appropriate cover. If they want oil from the Gulf they just need to send their navy escort or pay the USN to escort – simple.
The IRGC have also learnt that missiles being fired from a location identify their location and it does not exist for long after. Likewise for fast attack vessels. There are not as many IRGC fanatics willing to die for their lost cause now.
I doubt USA has much interest in ending the conflict quickly. Trump has turned it into a money making venture demonstrating the might of US weapons in “love tapping” as POTUS Trump describes it. Also exporting oil products at highly inflated prices to energy povos like Australia..
If there are eventually boots on the ground in Iran, Arab nations are looking like front runners to supply them. That would be a real seal of approval for POTUS Trump.
80
‘ … pay the USN to escort – simple.’
Not likely to happen, the Americans caused this problem and should pay reparations to Iran.

The spike in temperature around 2024 was caused by copious amounts of water vapour in the stratosphere (caused by the Hunga Tonga submarine volcano) where it became a greenhouse gas,

Older Adults (65+ years) constitute approximately 15.9% to 17% of the population, a figure that has been steadily increasing.
Approximately 2.2% of the Australian population is currently aged 85 years or older.

Seems I recall from my reading of history that Richard the Lionheart spoke only French and hated England.
Tried to sell it.
His mother robbed it to ransom him from jail.
So the the elite that are selling it out now have fallen not far from the tree.
And then we are fed movies where the heroic King Richard returns to attend the wedding of Robin Hood and maid Marian.
(The very best with Sean Connery as Robin, though Richard is portrayed by Richard Harris as the somewhat psychopathic child of a dysfunctional family he was. The man apparently led from the front though.)
Of course here in America, we have a small 20 year course of battle worn veterans that walked the hills of Afghanistan just as the Victorian Brits*.
Don’t know where this goes.
Then I barely can figure where history went.
*(Producing another great movie with Sean Connery and Michael Caine.)

[Best to provide the link with a short synopsis rather than cut/paste long sections. – LVA]
Oh something I should share!!
In California, the primary recipients of defense industry donations are typically lawmakers who chair or sit on the House and Senate Appropriations and Armed Services committees. These committees hold the “power of the purse,” deciding exactly which defense contracts get funded.Top Recipients in California (2024–2026 Cycle)For the current election cycle, several key California politicians consistently appear at the top of the list for defense sector contributions:
Ken Calvert (Republican): As the Chairman of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, Calvert is the single largest recipient of defense industry cash in the House. In the 2024–2025 period alone, he received over $835,000… from nine out of the top ten major defense firms, including Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and RTX (Raytheon).
Adam Schiff (Democrat): Currently running for U.S. Senate, Schiff has long been a major recipient. Critics point to his history of securing “earmarks”—government funds specifically directed to defense companies in his district—while simultaneously receiving campaign contributions from their executives and lobbyists.
Pete Aguilar (Democrat): As a high-ranking member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, Aguilar has recently seen accepted… $90,000 from major PACs including L3Harris, Lockheed Martin, and BAE Systems.
Nancy Pelosi (Democrat): While no longer Speaker, Pelosi remains a massive fundraising force. Historically, she and other top Democratic leaders have accepted hundreds of thousands in direct and PAC donations from the “Big Five” defense contractors to ensure “good terms across the aisle”.
Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman don’t just donate to everyone; they target politicians with the power to approve their specific programs:
Strategic Positions: Lawmakers like Calvert and Aguilar oversee the $850B+ defense budget, making them essential allies for companies seeking to fund projects like the B-21 Raider or drone defense systems.
Earmarking Power: Many of these representatives have used their positions to add unrequested funds (roughly $34 billion in 2026) for programs the military didn’t even ask for…
“Arsenal” Shifts: As you suspected with “AI,” newer defense-tech firms like Anduril Industries and Palantir are now also pouring millions into the campaigns of California politicians to secure their own multi-billion dollar contracts.
For transparent, up-to-date tracking of these specific dollar amounts, you can use the OpenSecrets Defense Sector Summary to see who is currently topping the list.
Does knowing which companies are doing the donating—like Boeing vs. SpaceX—change how you view these political ties?

California What’s on your mind now—are we done with the “Golden State” and its dynasties, or did you want to pivot to something else? No Golden State” and its dynastiestell me moreThe “Golden State” is often described by critics as a “neo-feudal” state, where power is concentrated among a few elite families who have managed to maintain influence for nearly a century. This “crooked quadrangle”—the Browns, Newsoms, Pelosis, and Gettys—represents a deep-rooted political machine born in San Francisco that has shaped California’s modern era.The Core FamiliesThe Browns: A multigenerational dynasty that governed California for nearly 25 years. It began with Pat Brown, who built much of the state’s modern infrastructure in the 1950s and 60s, and was continued by his son, Jerry Brown, who served as governor for four record-breaking terms. The Newsoms and Pelosis: These families are linked by a complex web of marriage and business that dates back to the 1930s. Gavin Newsom’s aunt, Barbara Newsom, was once married to Nancy Pelosi’s brother-in-law, Ron Pelosi. Gavin Newsom himself is often seen as the “heir” to this machine, having been mentored by both the Browns and the wealthy Getty family. The Getty Connection: Unlike the others, the Gettys are an oil dynasty, not a political one. However, they have reportedly funded Gavin Newsom’s political career since its earliest days.Modern Implications (2026 Update)As of May 2026, this legacy continues to play a decisive role in the state’s future:The 2028 Horizon: Governor Gavin Newsom is widely considered a frontrunner for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination. He has stated he will make a final decision after the 2026 midterm elections.Succession Planning: In the current 2026 Gubernatorial race, Newsom has notably resisted endorsing a successor but is seen as favouring “safe” options like Xavier Becerra over more disruptive candidates like billionaire Tom Steyer.Policy Control: Newsom recently launched Engaged California, a digital initiative meant to give citizens a “voice” in AI policy, though critics argue such programs often just solidify existing institutional control.Despite the “Golden” branding, recent reports suggest the state is “adrift” due to a massive budget deficit and a declining middle class.

Senior figures within One Nation fear their Farrer candidate, David Farley, may not last the distance with the party if elected at Saturday’s byelection amid a turbulent campaign marked by policy disagreements and internal tensions.
Several party sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said concerns about Farley’s long-term loyalty and discipline had intensified in the past few weeks, particularly after he failed to alert leader Pauline Hanson, chief of staff James Ashby or senior figure Barnaby Joyce before a report last week detailing his shifting political allegiances.
