Zero need for a Canberra run HV National grid except total control from Canberrra. It is utterly vulnerable for everyone simulataneously and ruinously expensive and utterly unnecessary.
As for exporting ‘renewable’ energy from solar and windmills, to where? How? So either Alabanese and Bowen are completely mad. Or they are not. It is the second which is more likely.
Stop Snowy II today. Stop building a National Grid. Rebuild coal power stations as HE, halving CO2 output if anyone cares but also doubling the life of the coal reserves. And account for ALL the hundreds of billions spent without the approval of parliament. No kings.

Question why the Albanese Labor Government, Minister for Energy Bowen and Minister for Finance Gallagher, both responsible for the now Federal Government wholly owned Snowy Mountains Hydro Limited (company) and shareholding, changed the terms and conditions of progress payments claims and payment after May 2022. The original contractor had been declared bankrupt and the business was taken over and renamed. The records show that the first tunnel which was for access was completed in October 2022 and the cost blowouts have taken place under the changed payment arrangements.
Also, note that Albanese Labor shut down the ABCC – Australian Building Construction Commission – that was the government watchdog that had dealt with many union related matters. With new payment system and unions on site Snowy 2.0 has become a very expensive project.
Also consider that about $6.5 billion of the costs was paid to buy State government’s shareholdings in SMH Limited.

I wonder what happened to the idea of super-efficient Superconducting Computers. Could it be something to do with proof that electrons cannot exist. Thanks for the comment … it got me thinking about the true nature of light, charge and magnetism. The annoying thing with the subject, is that it doesn’t matter how well you do or don’t understand it, whether you have the right theory or not … because (as far as I can see) there isn’t anything practical that can be done with the “right” theory. So it doesn’t matter whether the current theory is right or wrong.

But they never hold themselves to the same standard when the weather is hot. A momentary ‘heat dome’ does not prove climate change anymore than a momentary ‘polar vortex’ disproves it.

The temperature of a whole month wasn’t in the weather report when I was growing up. Neither did it have a temperature over the whole country. People would have asked if the meteorologists didn’t have anything better to do.
Personally, when I say it has been a hot summer here, I *don’t* average the mins and maxes over three months. I rate it because we had maybe half a dozen days that got over 40 degrees.
A glance through that Met Office link turned up this fascinating factoid:
Riiiight. Hot, because the *minimum* was higher than usual. I’m guessing the artificial month’s average wasn’t spectacular, and neither was the month’s maximum, so we have a high minimum. Ho hum. They are just fetching around for record-setting figures no matter how meaningless. The Aus. BoM does the same. These organisations enjoy the lift in budget and prestige that climate alarm has brought them, and this is what they do to repay their sponsors.
Anyhow, keep your spirits up. The days are getting shorter.

My son and family live in a reasonably green area near Cambridge. He said that what he has noticed there compared with London is that the air gets cooler at night. They can easily cool their house by opening it up at night and letting cool air permeate. In London, there was not much relief at night and opening windows meant they had to put up with more noise.
They do not see any value in air-conditioning where they live other than their central heating.

Hooke and Halley noticed it all the way back when Halley was Astronomer Royal and developing the science of meteorology, about 300 and some odd years ago.
They did so because 2 thermometers made by Hooke and calibrated against each other were at the Royal Society just off Fleet Street and at the Royal Observatory at Greenwich.

Every century of the CETs record since it began in 1659 has shown an upward trend. The warming in the UK has been inevitable since perihelion occurred after the December solstice from 1255. It took centuries before the upward trend in sunlight was even observed in temperature but it is now getting into stride.
Adapt or die. The sad part of the CO2 fairy tale is that it puts people in a cargo cult mindset. They are led to believe they can reduce the temperature by not burning fossil fuels when the warming has nothing to do with CO2.
The highest court surface temperature recorded at the Australian Open is 69C. Australia gets more intense sunlight than the UK but that is s l o w l y reversing.

The planet’s water cycle is a closed loop. The amount of H2O remains the same regardless of the temperature, but warm temperatures free up solid H20 (ice) to be become liquid (water) and gaseous H2O (water vapor).
A warmer world is a wetter world, as evaporation and transpiration result in increased surface water and atmospheric water vapor (which sooner or later comes back to earth in the form of precipitation).
Those wetlands are just as likely (or more likely) to expand due to global warming as they are to dry up.

Well, NO actually, they may change, things will alter, some species may go, some species will come. Sediment run off is only a problem to human observers, in the natural process sediment accumulates somewhere and a new environment evolves that was not there before. When I was in England in 1977/78 it was regarded by many as a joke. When I was there in 2013 I wanted a newspaper and the kiosk only had The Guardian left (and lots thereof) so I bought one.
