I’m Speaking in Perth on Wednesday: From Renewables Superpower to StupidPower

Black Start, dystopian, blackout, future city.

From Renewables Superpower to Stupid-Power:

History books will be written about how the world’s largest coal exporter placed a trillion dollar bet that it could lead the world away from coal, and how most of the world ignored it. Australia spent billions to close one lone coal plant while China built 50 new ones — partly so it could power the factories that Australia used to have.

Just when things were starting to go horribly wrong, the AI revolution arrived to make it worse.

Suddenly the world found itself in a race it could not afford to lose. The winner would have a force-multipler for every field of research, science, weapons, drugs, medicine, and encryption. But information is energy, and the AI need for reliable gigawatts is insatiable. Microsoft is so hungry for electricity, in one year it switched from building “the biggest renewable plant”, to reactivating the infamous Three Mile Island nuclear plant.

Australia is the last major coal producer on Earth on a suicidal mission to kill coal, which fits right in with being a uranium powerhouse in an anti-nuclear zone.

It’s tragic that in Australia virtually all activities of Government, federal state and local, as well as the principal propaganda unit, Their ABC and the people who tell politicians what to think, activist senior public serpents, are devoted to a suicidal mission of self destruction. And succeeding, and are more determined than ever despite the rest of the world now going in the opposite direction.

It would be almost impossible for the Liberals or a conservative party to lose the next election if they immediately announced 100% abandonment of all present anti-energy policies and returned to the position before John Howard initiated destruction of Australia’s energy supply.

+42. The Libs/Nats/One Nation can win the next federal election in a landslide if they fight Lab/Green/Teal and not each other. What you need to understand about democracy is that its main strength is in the people’s power to remove a government they don’t like. The Australian people did not vote Anthony Albanese IN, they voted Scott Morrison OUT. The price we pay for that is one term of Labor. It’s up to us to make sure it really is only one term.

        MJ,

You seem to have forgotten that we do not call the 3 main parties “The Uniparty” for no reason.
There is a VERY good reason for that.

They are joined at the hip and do not have the best interest of the Australian people at heart.
And they’ll fight VERY HARD against anyone who tries to even think about
        upsetting the apple cart.

Albanese has already openly called for Liberals to join forces with Labor to put One Nation candidates last on their “how to vote” cards for the Fadden by-election and probably for any future state /federal election.
The Libs seem happy to be in permanent opposition as long at their tax payer salaries keep coming, they will do anything to prevent One Nation becoming the Opposition or gaining majority seats.

Prof. Gad Saad wrote about the suicidal destruction of the West, the destruction of our energy supply, particularly in Australia, being one example, in his forthcoming book Suicidal Empathy: Dying to Be Kind.

The Parasitic Mind addressed what happens to our cognitive system when it is hijacked by ideological rapture. My forthcoming book, Suicidal Empathy, further examines the descent to madness by highlighting the inability to implement optimal decisions when our emotional system is tricked into an orgiastic, hyperactive form of empathy, deployed on the wrong targets.

Whilst our vast resources of uranium and coal are neglected, our resources of unlimited Stupidity are over utilised. You can pick up a newspaper on any given day and read a comment from a prominent figure spruiking the clean energy transition. These people don’t have the slightest idea about the complexities of energy yet they push the renewables sales pitch to the masses. Spokespeople for The Science.

Even in sensible countries, the demand for electricity for AI data centres is so great, companies are installing gas turbine generators to meet electricity demand until new power stations can be built.

Australia is kidding itself thinking it can run data centres (or anything) on wind, solar and Big Batteries.

No one in their right minds imagines running AI data centres (or anything) on “renewables”.

If real (non-woke) history was still taught in schools, people (present company excepted) might understand why wind, animal and human power was rapidly abandoned after 1712 when Thomas Newcomen invented the first commercially viable steam engine.

Also why photovoltaic panels were traditionally restricted to satellites or remote area installations without access to grid power.

One Saturday afteroon a few years back I was driving east in Horatio St, the highway, when an oncoming antique motor car let off a cloud of smoke or steam. It pulled over to the kerb and the occupants got out.

I imagined a breakdown, and their chances of getting a repair shop on Saturday arvo.

My brother in-law has repair shop, so I turnd around to ask if they would like his number. As I approached the car let off a huge cloud of steam, and I. thought: Looks like she’s b****ered now, but the occupants got back in and drove off..

Next week brother in law said: i did a weld on a Stanley Steamer on Saturday. and when it drove offf there wasn’t a sound.

There had been a steam rally.

Since “our” ABC seems to be working in lock step with the Australian Labor (Lie more) Party, should we question whether deals /agreements were done prior to Labor’s 2022 election win?
I seem to recall a time when the Liberals were in power and the ABC would regularly grill Ministers and Senators on their decisions whereas for the major part, ABC now barrack and defend almost every Labor government decision and rabidly attack anyone daring to question government policy.
I mean, the last two Federal elections seemed to have been decided and ratified by the ABC on their telecasts in record time with many questionable stats over vote counts etc.
Makes me wonder, or is it just a collective leftist thing where they’re happy “their” side won?

The worldwide demand for electricity is now so great, that even if Australia miraculously got a sensible government, the waiting time for one or more new power stations would be huge.

On top of that, with the usual regulatory delays and lawfare associated with any new development in Australia, it would be close to impossible to get any new power stations, or even refurbishment of old ones in any reasonable time.

As RickWill keeps telling us, the future is for domestic off-grid installations, at least for those that can afford them and have the space for them (that would exclude most apartment dwellers, they will freeze in the dark).

I’m sure those public serpents in Canberra will declare themselves an essential service and secure any remaining coal or gas power for themselves.

“History books will be written about how the world’s largest coal exporter placed a trillion dollar bet . . .”

Well, perhaps. More likely not. History, as a discipline, is pretty much dead (despite some noteworthy and, indeed, exceptional practitioners). Who, among those claiming to write history, has regard for historical method? Very few. What price truthfulness? This should apply to the academy regardless of discipline. But in the second quarter of the 21st century it does not. Indoctrination is all.

Incidentally, Bjorn Lomborg (here) estimates that globally governments have spent some 16 trillion dollars (US) on so-called renewables, presently adding two trillion more per annum. Australian media harps constantly on the “energy transition” when the only transition is to poverty — and that’s fine, apparently.

    Jo is speaking at a local meeting organised by the Civilisationists. I have not heard of them before. From their website;

The Civilisationists are a part of a worldwide movement of people keen to preserve, protect and promote our Western culture and our civilisation.

The Civilisationists are particularly concerned about the take-over of our institutions (such as education, the media, the judiciary and the government bureaucracy) by anti-Western left-wing organisations.

They don’t really say who they are.

This may be enough to settle the question of stupidity:

The main point is that global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are having so little effect on global temperatures, let alone Australia’s, and that trying to limit emissions is a useless, expensive waste of money and time.

Background: The energy policies adopted by many governments have been based on the presumption that carbon dioxide (CO2) was a pollutant, needing to be controlled, due to a possible increase in global temperatures, being the several scenarios from outputs of IPCC computer-generated computer models of future climate change in 1990s. They were untested and, as time has gone by, have proved to be highly exaggerated and misleading.

Despite CO2 being an essential plant food, not a pollutant, policies were adopted to desperately reduce emissions, spending trillions, instead of waiting to see whether global temperatures were rising as most of the models predicted.

The physics of the issue: An understanding of how the physical properties, in the infra-red, of the mixture of gases and water vapour in the atmosphere, essentially determine global temperatures and over time, the climate, is the clue and hence to counter these policies.

The main variable of concern has been the changes to the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere, due to the combustion of fossil fuels. Other factors, such as solar, ocean temperature and cloud cover changes occur and should be considered as ‘natural,’ but not ignored.

At low concentrations, CO2 does have a significant effect on temperatures, but at present levels this is very minor, as the effect has reached what is called ‘saturation.’ This is explained in several papers and videos by Will Happer, Richard Lindzen, and others, on the CO2 Coalition web site. The authors are physicists with expertise in climate science, but ignored or even dismissed by the ‘establishment.’

That changes to CO2 have minor effect is further reinforced by a collection of papers showing that doubling CO2 would raise global temperatures by one degree C or less. See:
    https://notrickszone.com/50-papers-low-sensitivity/
This has since grown to 160 papers, which show that the IPCC’s computer-generated models of future climate nearly all suggested excessively high temperature rises.

The CO2 Coalition web site also has several items showing that the absorption bands of water vapour in the atmosphere negate any effect of methane or oxides of nitrogen. Herbivores are not a problem. See also these earlier papers:
    https://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/04/11/methane-the-irrelevant-greenhouse-gas/
    https://wattsupwiththat.com/2019/03/30/methane-warming-exaggerated-by-400
    http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/01/whit_house_methane_madness.html

The conclusions can thus be made that CO2 emissions are having minimal effect on global temperatures, so any measures to reduce emissions is useless and futile and should be abandoned, along with “Net-Zero Carbon” policies, as well as the Paris Agreement.
The introduction of so-called “renewable power generation” systems should cease, together with subsidies. Nor is there any need for any “Carbon Taxes,” or similar schemes, nor plans to limit methane production from herbivores.

These facts about CO2 completely undermine the policies of the Labor government, the Greens, the Teals and some Liberal politicians. When carefully explained, this undermines any reason for holding such policies.

Being a retired physicist, with the relevant experience, I find it easy to endorse the above, but has been difficult to get support from some politicians and some scientific groups.

As an example of reports being ignored, is that a group of individuals has submitted over several years a paper outlining the failures of the AEMO’s ISP. The latest: “Submission to AEMO: Assessment of the Draft 2025-26 Integrated System Plan.”

Nobody running the energy plan takes any notice of the flaws, and so the stupidity of the plan is apparent.

It’s the same now only worse when any leftist media “journalist” gets a truth bomb from any guest that doesn’t align with their group think narrative.
