Looks like China uses small Green “climate” donations to help create $75b in economic damage

China, Lion statue

By Jo Nova

What an amplifier? The Chinese communist party quietly helped New York create a $75b climate SuperFund Law

That’s a lot of bang for their buck.

Imagine The Blob buddied up with China to lobby for a law that forced energy companies (and thus the shareholders and customers) to cough up $75 billion to fund green initiatives? The Blob gets more money to buy power and influence and buy favors from their friends. The Chinese Communists make their competitors energy more expensive, and thus all their products more costly, less competitive, their economy weaker. Suits every kind of grifter, eh?

But perhaps China just wants to save American whales right? Why else would the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) be so worried about US Emissions, but not their own? The CPC has been publicly lobbying for New York to legislate the  “Climate Change Superfund Act — a bizarre retrospective law which would force energy companies to pay billions for past emissions back to the year 2000AD. Supposedly, companies like Exxonmobil, Shell, and others are going to pay $3 billion a year to help New York prepare for climate change. Though obviously, it will raise the price of energy by $3 billion dollars a year (for 25 years) and it will be the mums and dads who pay the bills, not the corporate CEOs.  Not surprisingly, it’s been called a “Shakedown” law.

The new law also targets companies that are outside New York State. It’s a kind of super-communism, where truly Big-Government get to punitively tax people in other jurisdictions as well as their own. Where will it end? Well, 22 other states are challenging it in court.

The CPC gets funding from the Bank of  China and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) which are Chinese State owned entities. They also (wouldn’t you know it) get funding from the US government for “Community Resilience Support Services”. China might be hand-feeding our self-defeating sabotage, but the West is pretty good at it already.

The CPC, after all, is supposed to be there to help the “social and economic empowerment of Chinese American, immigrant, and low-income communities in New York City.” How exactly is this gargoyle of a law going to help poor Chinese immigrants?

Nonprofit Funded By Chinese Gov’t-Linked Entities Backs Blue State’s ‘Unconstitutional’ Climate Law

A New York nonprofit bankrolled by Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-linked entities is at the center of a controversial state climate law that could force fossil fuel companies to pay $75 billion over 25 years for climate mitigation projects. The Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC), which received millions from Chinese state-owned banks and Washington taxpayer funds, has aggressively backed the “Climate Change Superfund Act,” sparking a federal investigation and constitutional concerns. Critics argue the law, signed by Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul in December 2024, threatens U.S. energy security, inflates consumer costs and represents undercover influence by Beijing to undermine American sovereignty.

The CPC’s financial ties to Beijing are well-documented. It has secured $1.4 million in U.S. taxpayer funds since 2022 and over $445,000 from Chinese government-linked institutions, including state-owned banks like the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and the Bank of China.

Legal experts and industry analysts have raised concerns about the law’s constitutionality and economic impact. The Trump administration’s May 1 lawsuit against New York and Vermont argues it unlawfully imposes retroactive liability on energy companies for climate damages and violates the Commerce Clause by targeting out-of-state operations.

“The law doesn’t just strain budgets — it’s a constitutional time bomb,” said Republican Party energy lawyer

Tom Jensen. “Forcing companies to pay for past emissions they couldn’t foresee is trial by legislature, not due process.”

Read it all at NewsTarget  and The Daily Caller.

Naturally, it’s hard to know how much different a half a million here or there in lobbying makes, but if they are openly cheering on climate taxes like this, and providing testimony supporting the law, what’s going on behind closed doors, with Quid Pro Quo deals and honeypot extortion, and who is trying to find out? House Republicans have begun probing the CPC funding, but behind closed doors there may be no paper trail unless a patriotic whistleblower speaks up.

China, dragon flag.

As a tool of warcraft, it’s a bargain for China to throw money at green charities in the West

We already know they are sending money through the Energy Foundation China which ends up in environmental groups in the USA, like the Natural Resources Defence Council (NRDC), that files legal challenges to stop oil pipelines, drilling, coal plants and other mining activities.

China would be crazy if they weren’t…

China controls the rare metals market, builds the wind turbines and solar panels, and now also the EV’s. Obviously, on a pure self-serving business level, the CCP would be crazy if they weren’t amplifying Green fantasia in the West in order to sabotage the competition.

Hypothetically, if China was feeding millions of dollars through NGO’s and philanthropic organizations, and our traitorous universities, what would stop it happening — investigative reporting from The ABC, the BBC or the CBC? How about CNN?

In years to come people may come to see the whole sorry escapade of the “Climate Wars” as a tactic where the Blob used China and China used the Blob to screw over The West.

An extraordinary, but not unexpected, summation of what is really behind the issue of Climate Change.

The last paragraph defines it in two words: “Climate Wars”.

The West has been subsumed by this war as The Gullibles are bought with trinkets and “visits” to China ,

We seem to be at the Point of No Return as Sun Tzu’s disciples revel in their victory.

… Sun Tzu’s disciples revel in their victory.

Some particularly relevant Sun Tzu quotes applicable to the climate change scam:

All warfare is based on deception.

The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.

Therefore the clever combatant imposes his will on the enemy, but does not allow the enemy’s will to be imposed on him.

And it is working… extremely well, soon we will not produce any aluminium or steel, which are competitors to Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.

Food, that’s ok, China needs that as it can’t feed its people.

Recall how Australia was rewarded when Howard gave away much of our gas supply to the Chicomms at world’s cheapest prices with no provision for inflation or market prices on a 30 year contract, still running.

Australia got in return two pandas.

      Two f%*$ing pandas!

      https://www.smh.com.au/opinion/how-australia-blew-its-future-gas-supplies-20170928-gyqg0f.html

AI overview because the link is paywalled, there are other copies as someone posted the other day but I can’t find them now:

In August 2002, John Howard announced a $25 billion deal to supply natural gas from Australia’s North West Shelf to China. This deal, referred to as the “gold medal” deal, aimed to establish a long-term gas supply for China. The Sydney Morning Herald said this deal was significant in strengthening the trade relationship between the two countries.

      From elsewhere:

The Chinese were so thrilled with a $35 billion gas deal in 2007 that they made a gift of giant pandas Funi, left, and Wang Wang to Adelaide Zoo.

Except the pandas weren’t even a gift, they were a loan. According to Goolag AI:

Adelaide Zoo’s giant pandas, Wang Wang and Fu Ni, were leased from China, with the annual fee being around $1 million.

And from an SMH Goolag preview, China now wants them back:

5 Nov 2023 — Time could be running out for Adelaide Zoo’s star attractions as a $1 million-a-year Chinese panda lease is due to expire.

Is there no one in power in Australia that has any clue about anything whatsoever?

I don’t know if it is still the case, but you didn’t just get a gift of Giant Pandas, you ‘rented’ them, that’s right, you pay to have the honour of feeding and caring for their pandas.

and left the ILLEGAL guns on the street.

          And Australians fell for it.

Why don’t any of our Lamestream Media or Leftoids ever ask why the country with the world’s largest CO2 emissions by far, bigger than all the other developed nations and twice as large as the second biggest emitter, the United States, is exempt from CO2 emissions laws and anti-energy polices in general?

Why are they so keen to limit the CO2 emissions and thus energy consumption of their competitors?

(Not that CO2 is harmful, we don’t have enough of it, but the false claim that it is harmful is being used to
    de-energise the West.)

China is a major nuclear weapons power, nuclear reactor power, AI power, robotics power, manufacturing power, space power with moon landings (manned planned before 2030) and a permanently manned space station and has a 2.5 million+ man military and has some cities more modern than any in the West and is NOT a developing country as its supporters claim. It should be subject to the same anti-energy restraints as Western countries (assuming CO2 was a problem which of course it isn’t).

Clearly, the real reason the Left allow China to use energy without restriction, and the West isn’t, is to achieve the total world domination of China and the economic and other destruction of the West. And China has the world’s largest slave army of useful idiots of the Left in the West with which to achieve it.

Like the blue (Democrat) state of New York, Australia also has a fanatical, unreasoned, commitment to the Net Zero gods, possibly the world’s most fanatical under the Second Albanese regime, especially now Australia is an effective One Party State with no meaningful opposition political party.

What do you think PM Albanese and Foreign Minister Wong discussed at the following meeting with CCP-linked officials?

Anthony Albanese and Penny Wong revealed to have dined with figures linked to Chinese Communist Party

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong have both recently dined with donors linked to Chinese Communist Party departments according to a new report.

And where do Albanese’s loyalties lie?

    From Amazon book description:

New Zealand author Trevor Loudon has conducted a deep dive into the communist affiliations of the current Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese. In Comrade Prime Minister, Trevor Loudon meticulously excavates Albanese’s previously-hidden forty year alliance with the tiny – but extremely influential – Australian revolutionary movement.

From his involvement in militant student activism during his time at the University of Sydney, to his current choice of personnel and policy direction, Prime Minister Albanese consistently follows the “line” of the former Communist Party of Australia (CPA) and its even more dangerous successor, the Sydney-based SEARCH Foundation.

No you wouldn’t. If that news ever got out someone would shoot the traitor. I have said repeatedly that Albo is not working for Australia but is working for Chinese interests. The rest of his crew are also complicit in undermining this once wonderful country. The Liberals have alowed it to happen and have been supportive of it. Howard with the gas deal and mandated renewables, Turnbull with his policies that benefited his own son and business interests, Morrison with his policy of Net Zero adherence. Tony Abbott was the only Liberal to fight back and the party stabbed him in the back. We are truly led by idiots who are advised by fools or maybe it’s the other way around. Either way we are screwed.

NZ’s selected prime minister, Luxon (think: slippery as soap) is off to Beijing next week for a photo op with Premier for Life (Xi) before winging his way to Europe for a chin-wag with the NATO crowd.

His National Party (Team Blue, faux Conservative) predecessors somehow ended up on boards of various Ch!nese banks, ie. John Key, Jenny Shipley (both knighted by the Queen for ‘services rendered’), alongside some of Australia’s ex-PMs, eg. Keating.

As Simon (below) at #5 notes, the Opium War (Part IV?) is alive and well – unlike its victims – as the Crown and China and Carbon Corona (CCCC) make war upon the masses under the guise of ‘saving’ them. It’s an old Family business after all.

No sentient Australian would be remotely surprised.

See Marcus Tullius Cicero for a comment:

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear”

Pro-freedom activists from South Korea send balloons to North Korea carrying leaflets and USB sticks although I doubt many people in NK are able to read the USB sticks.

      From Goolag AI:

South Korean activists have indeed been dropping balloons carrying propaganda leaflets and other items into North Korea for many years, often in retaliation for North Korea’s actions. These balloons are typically launched from South Korea and carry items like leaflets criticizing the North Korean government, K-pop music, and even USB sticks with South Korean dramas. The North Korean government has condemned these actions and responded with its own balloon campaigns, including dropping trash, wastepaper, and even what South Korea says is soil containing parasites, in retaliation.

Excellent point. Enshrined in the US Constitution. And understood in most democracies based on British tradition.

So no Climate Reparations. Or reparations of any type.

A lot of Australian Climate laws are illegal and should be challenged in the Supreme Court. And Paul Keating’s law which made aborigines into settlers, ultimately granting ownership of 53% of Australia.

Western governments are trashing Democracy to please swing voters and maintain power. The appalling and irrational arrogance of Starmer, Macron Biden,Turnbull, Morrison, Albanese is unprecedented. You would think they were hereditary rulers not elected leaders. I read that former Justice John Dyson Heydon made a comment when the High Court supported the Mabo Decision. Eddy Mabo was a member of the CPA according to Trevor Loudon. Mabo had rightly established that he had ancestral rights to his land in the Torres Straight. However, it was a nonsequitur that it also applied to the mainland. Heydon made the comment “See what the Communists have done!”

Yes, but the ONLY thing Torres Strait Islanders had in common with aborigines was colour. His home island was under 1km x 1km and today still only has 400 people and far closer to PNG than Australia. The principle of zero land holding for nomadic groups is still relevant and was not overturned at all. But the extremists see everything literally in black and white. You may as well include the 11+million of PNG as aboriginals. Eddie Mabo and family were generational farmers and Melanesians. His argument was that he was NOT an aboriginal. Paul Keating decided he was.

And I still cannot believe that the 4,124 people of the Torres Strait have their own Nationality within Australia as islands in Queensland. They have their own flag flying in and on so many corporate offices and hospitals and public buildings in Australia and we have to thank them publicly for all they have done for us in welcoming us to their country and their leaders, past, present and future. Clearly we look to these 4,124 for leadership and governance into the future.

What was Keating thinking? How did this make sense then? How does it make sense now? Or is it just part of a $42Billion ripoff?

Who needs China to make a mess of Australia’s autonomy?

Keating was able to legislate it in 1992 and now is clearly the Chinese government appointed spokesman for Australia, outranking even our Prime Minister.

And why do we have to thank the 4,200 people of of farming Melanasian Torres Strait Island farmers off the Queensland coast when they never lived in Australia? Because Eddie Mabo won his case and without joining Torres Strait islanders to aborigines, there is NO case for giving 53% of Australia and $42Billion a year to a small number of tribes of warring aboriginal nomads spread over a vast continent with nothing except ancient ancestry. Not even clothing.

The destruction of Australia by race started with Paul Keating and continues. And continues with direction from China. The outback aborigines though are no better off and no one knows where the money goes. As in all Socialist governments.

In this land of droughts and flooding rains, climate and race are the least of our problems. We cannot defend ourselves, as Donald Trump will surely note. And as even Paul Keating noted in WWII, we could not rely on Britain. Now we are alienating America while we spend fortunes on leftist causes and sell our infrastructure to China. Who thought renting Darwin to China was a smart idea?

Why can’t the USA donkeys look up the data/ evidence for themselves?
The so called rich OECD countries haven’t increased annual co2 emissions since Hansen’s BS speech in Washington DC in 1988 and NON OECD co2 emissions have soared by 15 billion tonnes per annum over the same period.

Again, why does this amazing Human flourishing occur in the tiny 0.1% window after Britian started the Industrial Revolution?
Alex Epstein is correct that fossil fuels have changed a very dangerous global environment and made it safe.
Again, just look up the data that proves that deaths from extreme weather events have fallen by 98% since 1920. See OWI Data.

This is quite a long story in today’s SMH (Sydney Morning Herald), paywalled:

‘China has Apple by the balls’: How the rising superpower captured the tech giant https://www.smh.com.au/national/china-has-apple-by-the-balls-how-the-rising-superpower-captured-the-tech-giant-20250609-p5m5z1.html

Apple has been caught, and hence become complicit.
    Just one paragraph below.

” By 2015, Apple was investing $55 billion a year into China, and a lot of that was in training people to assemble iPhones, iMacs and other Apple products – by [Apple CEO] Tim Cook’s public estimate, 3 million people were trained. Apple sent planeloads of its best engineers – from MIT, Caltech and Stanford – to train the Chinese on how to produce their products. Overall, it has trained 28 million people in its supply chain since 2008. That’s bigger than the labour force of California or the population of Australia. It has had more impact on China than the Marshall Plan on Europe after World War II. ”

    Cheers,

I worked out a long time ago climate is just a way to destroy the western economies. I did so when I discovered Russia was funding the green blob, and worked out there was only one reason for it.

These days the “intelligence” agencies are so taken over by the green blob, that they effectively work for Russia and China … and the rest seem to work for Israel. There isn’t anyone working for the people of the west any longer.

Since 1994 when the UNFCCC agreement came into effect, the emissions from western countries have fallen by 10%, coming at a great cost, but the emissions from the rest of the world have risen by 330%, with most of that coming from China. The net result has been a 65% in global GHG emissions and still rising. This is the mother of all scams and yet it’s cheered on by at least a third of our population.

Economic Systems: The alarmists keep telling us their concern about global warming is all about man’s stewardship of the environment. But we know that’s not true. A United Nations official has now confirmed this.

At a news conference last week in Brussels, Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.’s Framework Convention on Climate Change, admitted that the goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity but to destroy capitalism.

“This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution,” she said.

Referring to a new international treaty environmentalists hope will be adopted at the Paris climate change conference later this year, she added: “This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history.”

The only economic model in the last 150 years that has ever worked at all is capitalism. The evidence is prima facie: From a feudal order that lasted a thousand years, produced zero growth and kept workdays long and lifespans short, the countries that have embraced free-market capitalism have enjoyed a system in which output has increased 70-fold, work days have been halved and lifespans doubled.

      >Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.’s Framework Convention on Climate Change, admitted that the goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity but to destroy capitalism

In 2010 the co-chairman of the IPCC’s Working Group III on mitigation of climate change, climate economist Ottmar Edenhofer, said in a newspaper interview that “we distribute de facto the world’s wealth via climate policy… One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy” (Neue Zürcher Zeitung, 14th Nov 2010, translated).

I have posted about this here in past years, look back to the formation of the United Nations soon after World War Two, created with very good intentions for rebuilding Europe and resettling refugees with future objectives to create a better and safer world. The far left of global politics grabbed the opportunity to infiltrate the UN with their own people and implement the Fabian Marxist socialism 1800s objectives known as a new world order including one world government and no international borders.

The one world government concept was acknowledged by Australian Greens Leader Bob Brown during his last address as leader at the National Press Club, he described as his dream a world parliament and no borders.

During the left infiltration late 1940s to 1950s Australian Labor Party Attorney General Evatt (Communist Party of Australia associate) created his plan for the UN to sign as many treaties and agreement as possible with member nations, the member nations would legislate into law and here in Australia the states would also legislate and create regulations and compliance costs managed by government departments, councils and organisations funded by governments.

Consider Human Rights Australia and research UN relationship.
