People abandoning BBC propaganda for new UK Channel “GB News”

Signs of life in the UK outpost of Civilization

A new TV channel called “GB News” only opened on Sunday, to smashingly good ratings.  GB News outdid the BBC and Sky on its first day as 164,000 people tuned in to see if they got real news for a change instead of repetitive inane cliches approved by some middle level bureaucratic arts graduate who was pushing their own political agenda to pump up their grifting salary and impress their friends. The BBC got 133,000 viewers and Sky 57,000.

BBC hit by mass boycott as viewers flock to Andrew Neil’s GB News and cancel TV licences

by Laura O’Callaghan, Express

AVID fans of GB News have hailed Britain’s newest TV channel and vowed to continue their boycott of the Beeb as they seek information from alternative sources.

Naturally, the collectivist bullies have gone after the advertisers, and while many spineless corporate CEOs have folded to cancel culture, at least one team is fighting back.  Companies with weak CEOs include Kopparberg, Grolsch, Nivea, Open University, and Ikea.

Bravo to The Co-op which stood their ground

The Co-op announced that it would not remove its advertising.

”Hi, we have developed a detailed and thoughtful advertising approach, which is driven by 3 principles:

    1. “We will not seek to affect the editorial independence of publications or channels.
    2. “We will not undermine the commercial value of our society for our members.
    3. “We will ensure our values and principles are clear and undiminished regardless of surrounding content.”

Former Ukip MEP Patrick O’Flynn tweeted that The Co-op had “knocked it out of the park” and he would be proud to shop at his local Co-op store.

As Sacha O’Sullivan says: GB News has been ‘cancelled’ and made a roaring success out of it.

In his opening introduction, Andrew Neil vowed to expose “cancel culture” and focus on the news that matters to people outside of the “Westminster bubble”.

Right on queue, a host of companies from Octopus Energy to the cider firm Kopparberg began pulling their advertising on the channel. Ikea, only hours after being fined €1million for spying on their own employees, claimed the news channel was not in line with its “humanistic values”.

So case closed for GB News: cancel culture is an evil stain on society attempting to drown out dissenting voices by starving them of advertising money. Those who diligently fight the culture wars threw themselves at the barricades and tuned into GB News and those curious as to what the fuss was about turned it on too. Either way, only days after launch, GB News had achieved the holy grail status of “cancelled”, thus ensuring its survival.

I listened to Andrew Niel roast the British Chancellor of the Exchequer on a range of budget issues, including the disastrous policy to replace all gas fired heating with “heat pumps” at £10,000 a pop. He was totally unable to answer who would pay this ridiculous sum, but maintained that the “benefits” of the changeover would outweigh the costs. Niel soon disabused him of that theory.

There is no way the BBC would have pushed so hard.

It will be a great Broadcasting station to tune into from time to time,

I bet that there won’t be anything from GB News appearing on “our ABC”.

And Andrew Neil was with the BBC until he failed to toe the line and was cut adrift. With 200,000 reported as not paying their licence fee there should be a big audience out there for him.

But only if authorities find a TV set in your house. No TV = no need to pay for licence.
And there are so many ways to disguise a USB TV tuner that you use with a computer monitor.

Interesting thing coming up in South Africa – the national TV transmitters are (finally!) going from analogue to digital – to free up bandwidth. So, you can only get TV if you have a digital set, or spend who knows what to buy a ‘set-top’ decoder. (Anyone realised yet that modern TVs are TOO THIN to balance a box on top?) So, if you have an old set, and DON’T buy a decoder, you no longer have “a set capable of receiving broadcasts”, which means you don’t have to have a licence! The SABC is in dire straits, with only one in about 50 TV owners paying the licence fee. The ANC government is trying to get the satellite broadcasters to pay up – fat chance!

TV sets can be detected, if turned on.
TV receivers like many radio receivers, but not all, radio receivers use the superheterodyne principle. This uses a generating/transmitting circuit for radio frequencies which are detectable.

And they are already facing sponsor withdrawal due to pressure groups.

The secret is to not be right wing, but genuinely centrist. On climate change they could genuinely give both sides of the story for instance, not just the skeptics. How refreshing that would be, because no one does it, no one. People would flock to it.

True the left strategy for a generation, has been to declare themselves to be a the center. And label anyone to their right as extreme.
The result is the bulk of the media is trying to call the game while sitting on the 10 yard line. Just one of the reasons why Trump was such a surprise – they can’t even see half the field.

    On advertising.
This insidious influence fires daily barrages at your senses in heavy bursts to try to affect your understanding of reality.
The recent catchwords “Gamble Responsibily” episomise advertising’s relentless stupidity.
Gambling is by definition irresponsible. Advertising agencies are being paid to reverse the definition (if you believe them).
You would be surprised, if you have not tumbled to this already, how many advertisements assault your senses hourly trying to reverse definitions and your personal preceptions.
We can start with personal health for example. Phrrmacies and pressure groups on the fringe have adpoted “wellness’ and “de-tox” and “scientific tests prove” which are devoid of scientific proof. That is why mainstream pharmacy has not adopted them for prescription-only. Same with alternative health like acupuncture, homeopathy, iridology, aroma theraphy and countless other fads that have failed to make it past professional scientific screening.
We still have people pushing weird things like water dowsing, UFI descriptions, religion, global warming, vitamin supplements, mattresses designed by aerospace experts, huge numbers of TV shows about impossible things like flying supermen and women, other shows claiming that men can be women and vice versa, parents who tell kids absolute myths about Santa Claus … it just goes on and on, no respite by moving from dreamland to scientific reality.
And behind it all, advertising consultants taking big quids from clients happy to perpetuate myths so long as it makes them more dollars.
Really, it is quite sick. Should we pass advertising thriugh the Therapeutic Goods Approval process?

I would like anyone in consumer affairs to get valid analysis of windmills and solar panels. Cheap? Reliable? Sustainable? Low CO2?

And how can things which do not work at least half a day get an energy output rating at the absolute maximum when you are lucky to get 25% of that? What happened to truth in advertising? This is in a time when a bag of peanuts carries the warning, “beware, may contain nuts.”

‘mainstream pharmacy has not adopted them for prescription-only’
They aren’t prescription only because they cannot be patented and have megabucks made from them by pharmaceutical companies. They also don’t pose the risk to health that prescription drugs do.
There is mountains of evidence supporting alternative health if you bother to look.
Water dowsing is used by lots of people to find water underground – easy as. I’ve followed underground water pipes around not knowing where they are and having it confirmed.
You have a problem with parents letting kids believe in Santa? You must be fun.

I think it’s fair to say GB news has put some noses out of joint, hence the hate campaign accusing them of hate, just for not being extreme lefty liberal enough!

But the audience share is tiny, and I’ve not found it very watchable. Will it last? Hard to say.

    The BBC, again

“The symptoms are the same. Two hundred thousand households actively declining to pay a TV license fee every year. Fewer and fewer people watching it, never mind trusting it. A growing perception that it’s sleazy. Being consistently anti-Brexit when the vast majority want out. Predictably left-wing on every issue. Rampant racial, ethic and religious tokenism, to almost the complete marginalisation of white Christians, who happen to form the vast majority of Britain.”

I suspect at least some of us find alternative news sources to get away from the fake MSM news. That trend will continue but there will always be a significant proportion of people who won’t bother for a variety of reasons. The result the public will be increasingly polarised, which might mean more tension and so an increase in civil clashes. Not good but not surprising. Our government could easily prevent that from happening; start up and support a competitor to the ABC news, docos, etc.. Given the current federal government is supposedly a conservative one (LOL) why not anyway? Or is it the case the LNP is a fake conservative party that prefers to continue supporting the leftist ABC that so dearly loves to push out fake news against the LNP, Christian values and just about anything else that is not progressive left? If that’s the case then the LNP ought to rename itself to ALPv2. At least then the ABC funding will be consistent.

The TV license in the UK is a complete joke now that the BBC has become a far left-wing propaganda outlet. You could argue that it was an absurd Orwellian tax when the BBC was non partisan way back in the Thatcher years, but to force everyone watching live content to pay £157 for left wing propaganda 24/7 is right up there with what you would expect in North Korea. The greatest absurdity is that you are legally forced to pay the BBC tax even if you never watch the BBC and it even applies to streaming live content over the internet such as GB news or Fox news which is from a different country.

Reading this article is rather heartening, because seeing a large number of people opt out of paying this extreme Orwellian tax and embracing anti-BBC content is sending a clear message, and it also hits the BBC revenues. My advice to UK citizens is to gang up on mass and refuse to pay the tax and tune into GB news whenever possible. If you get fined then take the matter to court as part of a class action on the basis that the BBC is breaching its charter by not expressing views that reflect those of a large section of the population. You should also lobby to make the BBC an optional subscription in the same way other private media outlets operate. This would force them to remain relevant if they wished to remain in business. The saame applies to the ABC down here, which is possibly even more Orwellian than the BBC. If people wish to watch mind and nation destroying indoctrination, then should pay the full amount for the privilege.

I think the phenomenon of businesses using their advertising spend as a means of promoting their public image needs to be exposed and explored. By all means if say, IKEA suspend/cancel their advertising with an outlet over that outlets stance on a political issue then that’s IKEA’s business. But we as consumers need to acquaint ourselves more vigorously with the policies of the businesses we purchase from, and make decisions accordingly.

And it’s curious that when a business boycotts a conservative media outlet, they don’t publicize it much do they. Having a bet each way – trying to impress the board members but not annoy the vast unwashed masses that contribute to their heaving salaries.

      From wiki

“In the British Islands, any household watching or recording live television transmissions at the same time they are being broadcast is required by law to hold a television licence. This applies regardless of transmission method, including terrestrial, satellite, cable, or for BBC iPlayer internet streaming. The television licence is the instrument used to raise revenue to fund the BBC; it is a form of taxation.[1]”

    Brilliant, good on them!
It’s a truly uphill battle in a country which repudiated Marxist control and cancel culture by getting out of the EU, with a massive popular vote and then decimating the rabble in the racist Labour party, only to be lead by a gormless ‘greenie conservative’!
It’s great to see the British public not lose their resolve to fight the cancel culture movement. They have the numbers and need to prove to corporate glad handers that they will go broke when they go woke.
By the way, love this description; ‘to see if they got real news for a change instead of repetitive inane cliches approved by some middle level bureaucratic arts graduate who was pushing their own political agenda to pump up their grifting salary and impress their friends.’. Spot on!

Speaking of the ABC, I wonder just how many employees will be led kicking and screaming to the new offices at Parramatta? After all, according to ABC Lore, any place west of Balmain is a bogan wasteland. Oh well…the poor little diddums will find out that Parramatta does serve soy latte; maybe that will help them fit in.

A new TV channel called “GB News” only opened on Sunday, to smashingly good ratings. GB News outdid the BBC and Sky on its first day as 164,000 people tuned in to see if they got real news for a change […] The BBC got 133,000 viewers and Sky 57,000.

I find this difficult to believe … there are 67 million people in the UK, and only 133,000 were watching the BBC? Not possible – what are they covering – 3:00 am on a Monday morning?

instead of repetitive inane clichés approved by some middle level bureaucratic arts graduate who was pushing their own political agenda to pump up their grifting salary and impress their friends.

I’m not sure who wrote this, but they simply have very little idea how TV news is gathered and put together.
