Constructive comments and questions from all sides of the climate change debate are welcome. The site relies on commenters being able to write in English, and to use logic and reason. I expect commenters to self-edit. If we have to [snip] someone too much they don’t qualify to post here. (At least not without paying the annual subscription fee of A$1.2 million*.) If you are good-natured, funny, or entertaining as well, you’ll get away with breaking the rules above.
Comments may be deleted or edited if they are unnecessarily repetitive, rude, lazy or mindless, about administration/moderation, or too boring. Anonymous trolls who dominate threads can expect to lose the right to post freely.
Frequent posters must meet higher standards.
Please don’t hijack the thread by jumping in at the top, solely to position youselves at the top of thread.
A real working email address is needed so moderators can reach the person commenting. Sock-puppets may be turfed out at any time.
These rules are inherently subjective, and subject to change without notice. People who don’t like that, get their own blog. :-). Read the Guide for Commenting. Be polite.
There is a snip-limit. People who breach that and need too many snips, lose the right to publish anything except high quality, politely constructive comments for the rest of the day (which lasts as long as I and the mods feel like). No more casual, snide, falsely truimphant or inane remarks from you. People who self-edit save us time.
Please report offensive comments: It’s not possible for us to moderate all comments 24/7, but as soon as we become aware of a defamatory comment we will remove or edit it. Please notify us if you see comments that are obscene, spammy, defamatory, likely to breach copyright or otherwise offensive.

Can you copy a whole article and post it? No. (Think 25%.)
It’s good net manners to copy extracts and link back — rather than cut and pasting the lot.

Real names get more respect, and they also deserve some protection from fake names who pop up to hit them. I detest spam too. As such, there are no guarantees of anonymity. Posters that use a government or publicly funded IP address that assume false identities for the purpose of hiding their source of opinion while on the taxpayers dime get preferential treatment for full disclosure. (Thanks to the brilliant A.Watts for that inspiration). But I’m sympathetic to whistle-blowers so if you need anonymity, and have a sincere contribution, I want to help. (That applies to people from either side of the AGW fence).
