Rewards for climate zealotry include $4 million worth of beachside golf holidays in Fiji

By Jo Nova

We couldn’t possibly save the Earth in a teleconference

The world is going to burn, but all the saints of climate penury have to be flown to five star resorts in Fiji, or else, the corals will die.

The Australian government has booked out two or three five star resorts in October in the “pre event” tropical massage leading up to the next COP meeting.  This is not even the actual COP meeting. It’s the pre-COP extravaganza designed to reward the loyal, and soften up the fence sitters. This way The Bureaucratic Blob can work on them on the golf course, or with cocktails at the pool.

You, the untermenschen, will pay for all this one way or another. Taxpayers all over the world will pay to send their selected parasites on holiday, and then after schmoozen deals are done, we’ll have to pay more to be allowed to fly anywhere on a plane powered by coconut milk.

Chris Bowen’s department sets aside $4.2m to reserve luxury Fiji resorts for COP delegates

–By Elizabeth Pike, The Australian

Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen and his team are paying up to $4.2m to lock in accommodation for foreign bureaucrats at luxury five-star resorts in Fiji as part of his COP president mission.

Just weeks after Mr Bowen claimed the cost of his COP31 role was “good value”, the government lodged a tender of up to $2,113,468 for “hotels, lodging and meeting facilities” at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort, a five-star waterfront getaway and 18-hole golf course that fetches up to $1200 per night for a room.

“Australia is committed to working with Pacific partners to deliver a successful pre-COP that strengthens regional stability, resilience and security, in our national interest.”

The excuses are already prepared

The Minister will say that we’ll get a lot of the money back. All the foreign delegates will reinburse the Australian government to pay for their rooms, so it’s only the 50 to 500 or so Australians our taxpayers have to lump up for. (In case you were wondering we sent a delegation of 494 to Belem, Brazil for COP 30).

But this doesn’t change that taxpayers all around the world are being screwed… shouldn’t poor countries build another school instead of sending a team to a tropical resort?

If pushed to justify the extravagant costs, and the fuel, plus those planet destroying carbon emissions, The Minister will wave his hand and say it’s great for Pacific Islanders, silently implying that the conference itself will hold back the seas and save the islands which are not actually sinking, from not actually sinking.

And finally Chris Bowen will say this is just “standard operating procedure” and Australia had to look serious, because we wouldn’t want to be a Laughing Stock… Which is apparently on a par with the Ross Ice Shelf collapsing or something.

The Coalition has accused Chris Bowen of wasting millions on a “vanity project” which is good start, but they could be printing t-shirts with pictures of five star pools and sunloungers and promising to kill off the whole obscene UN climate holiday rort for bureaucrats. But do they have the mojo?

The time to get out of the UN was years ago.
